Good to know

"Selah" is a Biblical word that means pause, rest, and reflect. We hope to welcome you to our home, Selah Way Cottage, freshly remodeled in soft colors, with hopes for peaceful relaxation. You can rest easy knowing that you have the entire private home to yourselves, with no shared space. Our lives are all so busy! We believe that taking time to pause and refresh is essential for every aspect of our well-being. We hope that you will choose to "Selah" (Pause, rest, & reflect) here at Selah Way Cottage. We also have a smaller 2br/2.5 BA home in Pigeon Forge, about 10 minutes from Dollywood. To find booking options, just do a search for Selah Way Chalet. Here is some information about our Knoxville home: PETS: Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to bring your dog. We can allow one pre-approved dog under 30lbs for $48. per day, paid via the app separately from your reservation. We do require that your dog be crated if left unattended. We all get nervous and do unpredictable things if left alone in an unfamiliar home. Due to severe allergies, we are unable to welcome cats. Please keep in mind that our yard is not fenced, and we do appreciate your efforts to clean up after your pet Neighborhood: Our home is located in a neighborhood of professionals and families who have to sleep, work, and go to school. We have to ask that outdoor noise levels be minimized after 9pm. Our guests receive an automated gentle reminder around 9pm to keep noise levels down. Parking: We have space to park 3 cars in front and 1 in back. Amenities and Entertainment: We hope to spoil you just a little with our homemade lavender oatmeal soap, high end bedding, Eddie Bauer blankets, and high thread count cotton sheets. Relax with a game of foosball, enjoy the 2 person arcade, go outside and enjoy your favorite TV show while relaxing in the hot tub. Or, stay in and play board games by the 2 electric fireplaces. We provide Xfinity streaming for local channels, in addition to Philo streaming service. Feel free to bring passwords and log in to your Netflix or other personal streaming accounts. Main Level: If you enter our home through the front door, you can turn right to find 3 private bedrooms, each with desks and smart TVs. We have new memory foam mattresses and your choice of feather or foam pillows. The shared bath has just been remodeled and features a heated towel rack, peppermint/tea tree bath products, and plenty of fluffy towels. To the left of the front door, is a fully equipped kitchen with most everything you might need to cook a full meal, including a professional blender and kitchenaid mixer. Straight back from the front door is our living/dining area, with a wall of glass and views of the deck and backyard. It is not unusual to see deer grazing in the backyard. We invite you to step outside the double sliding glass doors to the partially covered outdoor living space where you can enjoy a new hot tub, smart TV, gas fire pit and grill, with a table for outdoor dining. Inside, there is an electric fireplace, strong wifi, and a large TV. Downstairs: In our walkout lower level, you will find a great room that could almost be an efficiency apartment! This level does not have a door that separates it from the upper floor, so parents don't need to worry about feeling disconnected from kids who want to hang out downstairs. Larger groups will enjoy having extra refrigerator space and a second stove and microwave in the downstairs kitchenette. In the great room, we have a pull out queen sofa and our unique stacked beds with a full bed and 2 twin beds that pull out from underneath, so no sleeping in a cramped bunk bed under someone else. Enj.oy hundreds of arcade games, watch a movie on the large smart TV, or play a game of foosball by the electric fireplace. A woodland animal theme reading/toy nook under the stairs is a fun place to play a new game or read a book. A second bath is on this level, beautifully remodeled with live edge wood countertop and a luxurious walk in rainfall shower. This level has windows and a sliding glass door that leads to a patio with a porch swing and hammock chairs. Our cottage has around 1750 sf. We can comfortably sleep 8 adults with parking for 3 cars in front and another in back.

Other Details to Note

Please be aware that there is not a door between the upstairs and downstairs great room. For your security, we have doorbell cameras at the front and a camera at the back door. The hot tub is intentionally left outside the camera frame for your privacy. Cameras are not typically monitored, but it may be necessary to review footage if there are reports of parties or outside noise after 9pm. We are committed to making sure our guests and our neighbors have a peaceful night's sleep, are protected from false claims, and have the utmost privacy, so use 100% privacy compliant, best-in-class technology to protect both our guests and neighbors from bothersome noise. We will get a notification and will contact you if there is noise above 50 decibels outdoors after 9pm, which is about as loud as a quiet conversation. Guests who are not able to show respect to our neighbors will be asked to leave without refund.

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Our home is on a quiet tree lined street, just off Northshore Drive in the respected Westmoreland Hills/Riverbend area of town. Our street feeds into the Westmorland neighborhood in one direction and Riverbend if you go the other way. LOCATION: We are very close to the Rocky Hill shopping center where you will find Butler & Bailey, (our neighborhood grocery known to have the best meats in town), Sullivan's Restaurant (with beautiful patio dining), Scrambled Jake's (consistently voted best breakfast in town), Roosters Bar and Grill, CVS, a nail salon, a liquor store and more. Goodness to Go offers home style take out food and desserts. Drive a minute or two east on Northshore and you will find Lakeshore Park (Knoxville's most popular park) with a weekly seasonal farmers market, miles of walking trails, ball fields, and beautiful river views. And, you will be less than 30 minutes from exit 407 where you will find the largest Buc-ee's, leading to Dollywood, Soaky Mountain, and the Great Smoky Mountains. NEIGHBORHOOD: You may know that within the Knoxville city limits, Airbnb rentals are limited and tightly regulated. Because we are just barely outside the boundary for the city, our street and neighborhood have become very popular for short term and long term rentals. However, there are some permanent residents as well. We make it a priority to be considerate of our neighbors. Due to recent negative press regarding parties at other properties, all Airbnb properties in the area are being held to a strict 9pm noise ordinance that we must enforce of face penalties. AREA: Our Knoxville home is the perfect HUB for your East Tennessee vacation! You can take day trips to Dollywood, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Chattanooga, or rafting on the Ocoee. Rent tubes in Townsend (about 35 mins away) and float down the river. Oak Ridge is just 25 mins away. Mountain biking at Windrock, paddling/rock climbing at the Obed, or hiking at Frozen Head State Park are only about 45 minutes away. You can be to Rugby or Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in just a little over an hour. There is so much to see and do in East Tennessee!!

Guest Access

You will have full access to the entire private home with the exception of 2 closets and a storage barn that are locked for storage of cleaning supplies.

This place was perfect for our family of seven! Enough room for us to spread out but room for us to be together too! We hope to come back in the spring or summer to utilize the outside deck! We will be back and we have already recommended them to others coming to visit!

This home was very nicely decorated and very clean! We enjoyed our week in this quiet peaceful neighborhood where we could relax with beautiful outdoor views. So many extra touches made our time together comfortable and cozy including the electric fireplace, cozy sofas, homemade soaps and lotions, live flowers on the table, lovely holiday decorations, and a bottle of wine and snacks to welcome our arrival. Having a great hot tub was delightful too! Thankful we found this place and looking forward to a return visit.
